The Join – Total Tystnad (1987)

The Join – Total Tystnad

Clampdown Records ‎– J-001 – 1987- 7″

Umeå, northern Sweden. There was a time before straight edge and hardcore invaded the city and bands like Refused reigned. It was a time you could down a “platta folköl” (that 24 low alcohol beers) and eat burgers without second thoughts. It was a time punk rock bands had reference to beer (like this one) or even named after a beer brand (like Faxe from the neighbouring town Ö-vik). It was a time when you could pogo at concert with the Join without worry if punk rock was out of date.

The Join was active between 1983 and 1989. According to Peter Jandreus they rush the mixing of this 7″ to have it ready for a gig with KSMB but the mix was anything than gratifying. The record is self-released by the way.

Talking about Umea, the progg / punk act TBC was also from that city, their record came however 10 years earlier.

♬ Full EP (MP3 320 kbps). Songs: Våga droga / Total Tystnad / Café Pastell.
