November 4:th 2012 – Awesone Ramopunk Mopot – Erilainen Tyttö Suklaa Levyt – MOPOT-1 – 1980- 7″ Hiton hyvä bändi tämä!!! Ramones did their first gig in the Nordic counties in Copenhagen on May 12:th 1977. They played Stockholm on May 15:th (at Jarlateatern) followed by Helsinki and Tampere the following days. When I hear the Mopot (translation – Moped) song ♬ 1-2-3-4 I get an image in my head of four kids from Suolahti driving down to Tampere on May 16:th to see the Ramones show. They might not understand the lyrics but remember Joey’s or Dee Dee’s screaming 1-2-3-4 betweens the songs. Back in Suolahti instrument was bought and 1-2-3-4 let’s play punk. Well the true story is that they were formed in 1978 and the little knowledge I have comes from a few finnish fanzine (and finnish is a hard language to understand). Mopot was together with bands like Ypo-Viis the first Ramopunk bands, a genre which was very influenced by the Ramones sound. In the beginning with finnish lyrics, but at that time the word Ramopunk was not really used. Ironically the main influence for Mopot was the Boys [website] and not Ramones. Normally I don’t fancy Ramones clones but I really like Ramopunk. I believe this self-release was pressed in 400 copies. 1-2-3-4 and ♬ Neekeripojat are the best songs. Originally they were three members in the band but in 1980 a second guitarist was added. The line up for this EP was Teijo (vox, guitar), Jouni (guitar), Timo (Bass) and Tame (drums). The year after a single was made and the band was split up. Teijo was later behind the microphone in Cartoon Rockers and also in Usher Boys together with Timo. For sure a great EP so 1-2-3-4 listen to the ♬ Full EP All audioclips in MP3 320 kbps. This record comes from a trader and is in excellent condition. Ramones second visitto Finland was a show in Helsinki in September 1978 (and three gigs was done in Sweden). The Finns had to wait to 1988 for the Ramones playing again (at Provinssirock). The P. Tuotanto on the front sleeve is a sticker. to Click on the images to expand them to higher resolution. Share this:
I’ve seen this one a few times, but never picked it up. Guess the sleeve fooled me as this is so much better than I expected it to be.
