March 8:st 2013 – Great early Swedish punk Arsenik – Bad Girl Ori Records – ORI 0707 S – 1980 – 7″ Maybe I should not put out Bad Girl by the Karlsham (Sweden) punk band Arsenik on the international women’s day! Whatever! There have been a lot of hardcore records and tapes posted lately as I have not bought too may records from the first wave of Swedish punk recently. However – I was able to land this little gem, an amazing release actually. Arsenik started out only 13 years old, the keyboardist was only 12. A couple of years later their only cut on vinly was released. Here you will find a three song EP with two songs in English (Bad Girl / Swedish Boy) and the one in Swedish (Vi Gör Som Vi Vill – We will do as we want). As the kids were in their puberty the lyrics were not a robust but despite this it’s a great record. Someone might have heard Bad Girl on Killed By Death #51 which was a different (and not as good) mix. As for the the City of Karlshamn, it has a quite active punk scene. The band became fairly popular and played in front an audience of 2000 people at one time.
