As artist for the 20 most essential hardcore releases was selected, Sötlimpawas one of the candidates. Sötlimpa was active between 1981 and 1984, there were some occasional re-unions in the 90s). From its home base in Mölndal, south of Gothenburg (Sweden), they developed an infectious melodic hardcore sound that any sane hardcore connoisseur has to like. If anyone tries to call it “trall” – I have to hunt you down and kill you. This demo from 1983 is their second demo (under the name S.L.A), the first demo “Kaka till Middag” was released one year earlier. I earlier just had a dub of that demo but found a legit version recently. The band cut a self-released seven-inch “Löfen” in 1983, pressed in 560? copies. A 12″ followed in 1984 under the name S.L.A. The bass player Raino Jonsson also did time in Tatuerade Snutkukar (tattooed cop cooks), the second best name of a punkband, only beaten by Rövsvett.

In their relative short time if existence the gang is claimed to have made around 100 gigs and earned a reputation as a great live band. If you were not there, check out ALL their records. Buying their compilation record 1981-84 on CD from Ägg Tapes and records from mid 90s or the recent re-issue on vinyl from Distortion records is a brilliant idea – Sötlimpa is an essential band.
