Quod Massacre – 80’s Slovenian punk killer

August 20:th 2012 – Slovenian punk killer

Quod Massacre – Kje Je Odgovor!

NE! Records – NE005 – 2012- LP

Quod Massacre is one these bands few have heard about. That’s not because they where no good but more because they where from a region which music few (like me) keep an eye and ear on. They started out in the early 80’s and made a demo. The band is from of Ljubljana (former Yugoslavia) a city which had a good cultural life (including punk). They put out an LP in 1991 that got some minor distribution around Europe.

I got this excellent release from NE! Records with recordings from 1983 to 1986. It contains some really great hardcore tunes and some slower punk songs as well. I must say that I’m very impressed after playing thru the LP a couple of times. Some song really stuck. Furthermore I have to say that I’m impressed with the overall release. It comes in a nice gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves and a CD as well. 250 copies are in red vinyl and the remaining of a total press of 800 are in black vinyl. The guys at NE! Records have done a great job in this fifth release from this small label. I got some stuff that I will post later that came in the same parcel (I bought all 5 releases from NE! records).

As musicians the band does a great job and some songs a quite innovative and all quite melodic. I don’t understand the lyrics, but I have understood so much that the band focus on the situation in Slovenia at the time.

Anyhow here is 2 tunes that I selected: ♬ Quod Massacre and ♬ Kje Je Odgovar! (both 128 kbps). I’m unsure of how this label is distributing it’s records so you can mail nerecords@hotmail.com for more info. I did.

All images is made with my crappy camera. Sorry about the flash appearing on all pictures. As usual you can click on the images to expand them to higher resolution.

  1. Awesome band! I also bought this LP release with CD and I can easily say that this is one of mine most favorite records ever! So honest and filled with energy without compromise on every beat of it – I fucking love it!

Got something to say?
