It has not been posted very many powerpop records on this site. However, being a sucker on US punk a few US powerpop seven-inches have slipped into the record collection over they years. This time it’s New Jersey’s pride Ambulance who put out this little gem on their own label Urgent Sound in 1980. It was pressed in 1,000 copies of which 900 have pink sleeves and 100 have magenta sleeves (source discogs).

Apparently the band started in 1979, vocalist and guitarist Steve William had previous played with Whiteboy where a young Richie Ramone played drums. Apparently that band released a seven-inch as well. Steve met Johnny C armed with a bass and finally add Bobby Padula on drums and powerpop magic seems to happen. As a Jersey band they played both everywhere in New York and several times at Dirt Club in Jersey. It’s said the single got quite popular at the local stations. Both tracks are really good.

There is a nice reissue of this record on SingSing Records and recently the band put out an self-released CD called Plant You worth buying

Songs: ♬ It’s all up to you / ♬ I Remember (MP3 320 kbps)
